However all was not lost to foul weather. About 5 this afternoon the sky ceased its relentless whizzing on us and so we decided to take a chance at being caught out in the middle of the lake and getting drenched. Donning our raincoats and then hopping into our trusty kayakenmobiles, we paddled out into the middle of the lake. Actually it was quite nice.
We have noticed over the past few days that there is one lonely loon that seems to regard this part of the lake as its own domain. It is always out there swimming around, diving deep underwater for little fishes (or whatever loons eat). We saw him there today. Sometimes you can slowly paddle close to the bird and it just kinda watches you as you come closer. Patti wanted to see how close she could get, so she paddled right towards the bird. I stayed back and took these pics.

Once a loon thinks you are getting TOO close, it dives underwater and swims a good distance away... like in hundreds of feet away from the point it disappeared. Amazing how long they can stay under. And this one was no different. Slish! vanishing down under.

Supposed to be bit wet again tomorrow but then sun shine after that.
Well.. we'll will see what tomorrow brings... and adjust accordingly.
