Thanksgiving on the road again

Short trip to Edison, NJ to spend the Thanksgiving evening with Patti's family.
Patti's cousin Ruth lives in Edison and everyone is driving to her home this year. Ruth and her 2 youngn's live just south of NYC and 200 miles north of DC. I'm going to try to blog on this little adventure as I go along.

I took off this morning from DC in the middle of a giant fog (somewhat of a mental fog as well, but that's not unusual). Foggy driving rather.
I was a little concerned but the fog never was terribly thick so I didn't feel too much in driving danger. It lifted about 150 miles into the trip.

The hardest part so far has been trying to stay awake. More often than not I don't have a problem with getting "the sleepies" while I'm on the road but I sure did today. I put on favorite music on the cd player and that helped for awhile but still it was a battle.
About 2:30 I arrived at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Edison. Some of the relatives will be here as well. We'll meet tonight at Ruth's house about a mile away.
In the mean time, IT IS NAPPY TIME for this guy.. after all the fighting to stay awake on the road, laying down for the next hour is going to feel deeeelicious!
Melting into the mattress....

another update after I return from the the partay tonight.

11pm
That was most enjoyable. It was realized that I now hold the prestigious distinction of being the oldest soul in the family. (well ok, the oldest one attending tonight anyway:-) I thought maybe I could now sit on my fanny and be waited on hand and foot.
Oh, but no.
I guess I haven't quite reached that venerable state of aging just yet.

Here's the group.
Missing a couple folks since not even my wide angle lens could candidly capture everyone's image.

Of course the kids had to have their moment being wonderfully silly.

I want to thank you all for having me with you. And a special thanks to you Ruthie, whose home we gathered in and who lost her husband Jerry just a year ago.

We toasted all those who left us for the other side of this life.

ok.. I had so many sweets that it'll be a wonder if I ever fall asleep tonight.. but now that I'm back at the hotel, I'll watch a little tv under the covers and see what happens.
Until tomorrow then..
