Canada/US border crossing:

The big dude in the uniform and a gun says "May I see your passport please?"
I say back, "I don't have a passport! I wasn't paying attention and I took a wrong turn back there [LYING TOAD!*] all I want to do is turn around and go back south."
He looks somewhat perplexed and probably thinking "another dumb shit American tourist".
I add "How about that No Left Turn there.. can I spin around that and go back the way I came?"
He almost said no.. but after a couple of seconds said "go ahead." There were scores of other border patrol people there and as I drove into the one-way going the wrong way I half expected to be chased.
I keep checking my mirror until the backwards border sign was lost to view. That could also have been fun, to have been chased for awhile.
I play the dumbshit American tourist quite well 'cause a fair portion of time I am one.... but heheh, not this time.
This time it was deliberate.
Sometimes, fun is when you make it happen.
ta haaaa.. I accomplished my little mission of making it to Canada. ok.. almost.. close enough for the proverbial cigar.
So yes, now I'm officially headed back to DC.
I'll have to visit Aunt Ruthie another time if she permits me to do so.
So... this is a small update on this fine, sunny Saturday afternoon in northern NY state. I'm sitting outside of Hosler's family restaurant, just had breakfast. Parking lot wifi is strong (and a full breakfast for only $5.16.. amazingly cheap compared to the big city.. I gave a 60% tip to the waitress just to make me feel more at home.)
Just to let you all know I intend on taking "the little blue roads" (rt 30) back thru the Adirondacks until I hit Saratoga Falls. After that I will probably jump onto the interstate and GO FAST. I'll camp out again tonight. (got COLD last night.. had to put on extra clothes in my sleeping bag.. but I had a number of lovely dreams in my light sleeping. Go figure.
I'm liking this camping out.. campfire at night. Running the roads at day.
You can the meet some interesting characters in the campgrounds who all have a story to tell and for some unknown reason feel compelled in telling them to me. Maybe it's because they unconsciously know that I'm "safe" to speak their personal stories to.
At least that's what I like to think.
Right off the bat I kabash on all conversations about politics, religion or sports. (the latter being perfectly senseless to my thinking, I am not even slightly interested in.. the first two, politics and religion can often ruin otherwise perfectly good friendships).
OK Kids-of-the-Blog.(Children of the Corn) Whoever you are.
I have no idea how many or who is reading this in that I have no hidden counter or IP logger to let me know.
In any case that's all for today. Thanks for the comments and my apologies for not responding properly to them. I read them all several times each.
....back on the road. Another update tomorrow.
*Patti often said to me "You are such a 'lying toad'", especially whenever I would say to her how attractive and beautiful and clever she was. I wasn't lying whenever I told her that in a number of different ways, but that was her response and we both giggled like silly school girls.
